Frequently asked questions
What is Sarafan?
Sarafan is a project for showing what you do, discovering services, exchanging recommendations, and finding useful connections through trusted networks. Sarafan facilitates discovery; it does not employ professionals or guarantee their work.
Who can create an account?
Sarafan is intended for people aged 16 or older. A higher local age or additional authorization requirement applies where required by law.
Do I need to allow access to my contacts?
No. You can use features that do not require contact matching without granting contact access. Some network features will not work without it.
Does Sarafan upload my address book?
Sarafan is designed so readable address-book phone numbers remain on your device and are not stored in its relationship graph. The app converts normalized contact identifiers into cryptographically protected pseudonymous tokens used for matching and permitted network paths. The tokens remain protected personal data; they are not treated as anonymous.
What does a network path mean?
A path means Sarafan detected permitted relationship signals that may help one person reach another. It is not proof that every person shown knows, recommends, or has agreed to introduce every other person.
Does a recommendation mean Sarafan verified a professional?
No. A recommendation reflects the recommending user's statement. Any verification marker confirms only the fact specifically described by that marker. Check qualifications, licenses, scope, price, insurance, and terms directly before hiring anyone.
How do I edit or hide my profile?
Use the profile-editing and visibility controls available in your account. Public information may already have been copied, shared, or indexed outside Sarafan.
How do I report content or a user?
Use the Report action on the relevant profile or content where available, or email info@usesarafan.com with the subject “Safety report.” Include a link and concise explanation. Sarafan may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts after review.
How do I block someone?
Use the Block action on the person's profile where available. Blocking limits interaction and visibility according to the product controls, but it may not remove public content or records needed for safety or legal reasons.
I cannot sign in. What should I do?
Confirm that you are using the same sign-in method used to create the account. Request a new sign-in code or reset link, check spam folders, and make sure the app is current. Never share a password or one-time code, including with someone claiming to be Sarafan Support.
How do I correct personal information?
Edit information in your account where available. For information you cannot change, email info@usesarafan.com with the subject “Privacy request.” We may need to verify your identity.
How do I control notifications and marketing?
Use Sarafan's notification controls and your device settings. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe mechanism. Essential security and service notices may still be sent while your account remains active.
How do I delete my account?
You have three ways to request deletion:
- In the Sarafan app, open Settings → Account → Delete account.
- Use the support form above and choose “Delete my Sarafan account.”
- Email info@usesarafan.com from the address connected to your account with the subject “Delete my Sarafan account.”
We may ask you to verify that you control the account before deletion. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.
Can I recover a deleted account?
No. Once a verified deletion request has entered final processing, deletion is permanent. You may create a new account later, but deleted content, history, and network state may not be recoverable.
How do I make another privacy request?
Email info@usesarafan.com with the subject “Privacy request.” State what you are requesting and identify the account. We may request proportionate verification before disclosing or changing information.
Where can I read the rules?
Read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
